Acer Aspire One D255E Netbook Memory Upgrade June 1, 2011
Posted by admin in : Hardware , add a commentUpgrading the standard 1Gb of memory with a 2Gb module isn’t that difficult once you have figured out how. Here is a step by step guide that takes about 10 minutes to complete.
The Executive Summary
- Remove the Battery
- Remove the Keyboard
- Remove the 4 screws that hold the rear cover (Door)
- Remove the rear cover (Door)
- Remove and replace the RAM
- Reassemble
Procedure
It should be noted that the 7 screws on the bottom of the laptop have nothing to do with accessing the ram.
Step 1 – Remove the battery.
Step 2 – Gently remove the keyboard by using a small screwdriver to help pry the keyboard out. There should be a small tab by the “/” key.
Once it’s started, get your fingers under and start prying it off.
Work around the keyboard until it’s free.
Pull the keyboard toward the screen to release the tabs.
Step 3 – Remove the 4 screws marked “door” (white arrows). Then insert a blunt instrument into the hole marked in red and gently push until the bottom cover (Door) releases.
Step 4 – Flip it over and remove the cover (Door).
Step 5 – Remove and replace the RAM Module.
Step 6 – Reassemble, reboot and check BIOS (F2) on startup to ensure it sees the new RAM Module.
That’s it! You’re done…
